Internal Auditor – Finance & Operations Controls

About the role

Upstay is seeking an Internal Auditor focused on Finance & Operations Controls to strengthen financial controls and reporting reliability across its short‑term rental portfolio. This hands‑on position will identify control gaps, validate transactions, improve reconciliations, and support practical process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Review the full revenue cycle from booking creation to revenue recognition, collections, refunds, cancellations, and owner reporting.
• Validate booking and payment data across OTA platforms such as Airbnb, Booking.com, VRBO, and other channels.
• Reconcile reservation data, payment processors, bank deposits, PMS systems, and accounting records.
• Identify missing revenue, duplicate postings, incorrect adjustments, unreconciled balances, and timing differences.
• Support controls over OTA clearing accounts, guest payments, refunds, fees, and related revenue accounts.
• Review owner statements, revenue‑sharing calculations, property‑level reporting, and owner distributions.
• Validate property coding, entity allocation, department tagging, and owner allocation accuracy.
• Examine owner charges, maintenance billings, reimbursable expenses, and operational recoveries.
• Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Property Management, Owner Experience, Guest Experience, Procurement, and leadership teams to ensure controlled, documented workflows.

Required profile

• Experience in internal audit, finance, or operations controls within a property‑management or hospitality environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to detect control gaps and financial leakage.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with multiple departments and senior leadership.

Required skills

• Knowledge of OTA platforms: Airbnb, Booking.com, VRBO.
• Familiarity with Property Management System (PMS) integrations.
• Data reconciliation and accounting record validation.
