Instrumentation Technician – Test & Launch Support

About the role

As an Instrumentation Technician at Venus Aerospace, you will install, calibrate, and maintain the critical sensors and data‑acquisition equipment that drive our high‑speed flight test programs. You will work hands‑on with launch engineers to ensure every test is safe, reliable, and delivers actionable data.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret schematics, datasheets, and engineering drawings to wire and configure ground support equipment.
• Install, test, and validate pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, load cells, and other sensor types.
• Fabricate and assemble wiring harnesses, connectors, and electronic racks using hand and power tools.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning components in test hardware and integration systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on launch pads, vehicle integration areas, and facility infrastructure.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 5 years of mechanical or technical experience.
• Minimum 4 years working directly with instrumentation such as RTDs, thermocouples, strain gauges, load cells, or pressure transducers.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lb, work at heights, and operate in harsh outdoor conditions.
• Flexible schedule to meet site operational demands.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with wiring, grounding, and electrical GSE.
• Proficiency using oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering tools, and signal‑conditioning equipment.
• Knowledge of PXI, cRIO, Serial, USB bus architectures and data‑acquisition concepts.
• Familiarity with DC power supplies, DC‑DC converters, UPS systems, heat‑shrink tubing, cable harnessing, and strain‑relief practices.
• Basic understanding of Wheatstone bridge principles, Ohm’s law, and DC electronics.
