Inpatient Social Worker - Behavioral Health Service Line

About the role

The Inpatient Social Worker will join the Behavioral Health Service Line at UAMS, delivering comprehensive social work services to hospitalized patients and their families. This position focuses on assessment, care planning, and coordination of resources to support recovery and successful discharge.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop individualized care plans for patients.
• Provide counseling, crisis intervention, and emotional support to patients and families.
• Coordinate discharge planning, referrals, and community resources.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members.
• Document all interventions accurately in the electronic health record.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, and hospital policies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) and appropriate Arkansas licensure (LCSW) or eligibility.
• Experience in inpatient or behavioral health settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced hospital environment.
