Human Resources Compliance Specialist

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Human Resources Compliance Specialist to support day‑to‑day HR operations and ensure employee records meet all policy and regulatory requirements. This position works closely with HR auditors, managers and staff across multiple functional areas.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent audits and reviews of electronic and hard‑copy personnel records to verify compliance with university policies and federal, state, and regulatory standards.
• Identify documentation deficiencies, compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with HR representatives and operational leaders to resolve compliance issues and maintain accurate records.
• Monitor timely collection, validation, and retention of required employee documentation and credentials.
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive employee information.
• Support internal and external audits, compliance initiatives and process‑improvement efforts.
• Prepare and maintain reports, logs and databases related to HR compliance activities.
• Provide concise audit feedback and assist in developing stronger record‑keeping procedures.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a relevant field (required).
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant HR or compliance experience.
• Demonstrated learning agility, teamwork and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Technical proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
