Guest Specialist – Museum Visitor Experience

About the role

The Museum of Modern Art is seeking a Guest Specialist to create a welcoming and memorable experience for visitors. You will play a key part in driving repeat visitation, membership conversion, and positive word‑of‑mouth by delivering exceptional service throughout the museum.

Key responsibilities

• Sell daily and advance admission tickets, film and program tickets, memberships, and guest passes.
• Process credit cards, coupons, cash transactions and issue change.
• Conduct zip‑code surveys and collect visitor data for research and marketing.
• Welcome guests, assist with visit planning, and resolve on‑site complaints.
• Validate admission, guide visitor flow, and maintain cleanliness and organization at ticket desks and galleries.
• Update the membership database, draft routine correspondence, and support member events and RSVPs.
• Assist with training new staff, attend shift meetings, and participate in membership marketing meetings.
• Report safety or cleanliness issues and perform duties across visitor experience and retail teams as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Previous experience interacting with the public; multilingual abilities are a strong plus.
• Proficiency with technology, including mobile devices, Google Workspace, and point‑of‑sale software.
• Exceptional customer‑service orientation.
