Full-Time Histotechnician (Hospital Laboratory)

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Histotechnician to join the laboratory team at St. Peter’s Hospital. The role supports routine histology and cytology preparation, ensuring high‑quality specimen processing in a fast‑paced clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general histology and cytopreparatory duties following standard operating procedures.
• Collect, process, store, and handle specimens while maintaining correct patient identification.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, including corrective and preventative maintenance as required.
• Document work, complete competency surveys, and stay current with policies and procedures.
• Work with minimal supervision and apply cross‑training skills as needed.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Histotechnology and relevant certification.
• Current New York State license.
• Ability to understand and follow SOPs, policies, and department procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care.
