About the role
The District 219 French Teacher (0.4 FTE) delivers high‑quality French language instruction aligned with district curriculum, policies, and professional standards. The role supports diverse learners, fosters an inclusive classroom, and collaborates with staff, families, and student services.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver effective French lessons that meet curriculum standards and student needs.
- Differentiate instruction for individual students and groups, using a variety of instructional techniques.
- Assess student achievement, analyze data, and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Create a purposeful, respectful learning environment that promotes student independence and engagement.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support academic, behavioral, and social‑emotional growth.
- Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ongoing professional development.
Required profile
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with required endorsements.
- Experience working successfully in a diverse, multicultural environment (preferred).
- For teachers with ≥3 years in District 219: completion of at least 6 clock hours of district‑authorized equity professional development every three years.
- AP teachers: five years teaching the assigned AP course or successful completion of a College Board Institute and audit process.
- World Language teachers: internal candidates need three years of teaching experience in the target language or "advanced low" proficiency on the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview; external candidates need "advanced low" proficiency.
- Project Lead the Way teachers: PLTW certification (internal candidates also need relevant experience).
