Fire Alarm System Technician

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Fire Alarm System Technician to join its Facilities Operations team in Little Rock. The technician will ensure that all fire alarm systems across the campus are installed, inspected, tested, and maintained in compliance with safety regulations and university standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance of fire alarm panels, detectors, pull stations, and auxiliary devices.
• Diagnose and repair faults, replace components, and document all service activities in the maintenance management system.
• Respond to emergency calls, troubleshoot system failures, and coordinate with campus safety and external contractors.
• Maintain accurate records, generate compliance reports, and assist with system upgrades or new installations.
• Ensure adherence to NFPA codes, local fire codes, and university policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in fire alarm systems preferred.
• Prior experience in fire alarm installation, testing, or maintenance in a facilities or industrial setting.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and ability to work independently.
