Financial Controller

About the role

A fast‑growing consumer packaged goods brand is looking for a Financial Controller to own the day‑to‑day accounting function and act as a strategic financial partner to senior leadership. This hands‑on position will build structure, tighten processes, and ensure accurate reporting as the business expands across DTC, wholesale and marketplace channels.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full monthly, quarterly and annual close, delivering GAAP‑compliant financial statements.
• Maintain and improve the general ledger, chart of accounts and all account reconciliations.
• Manage inventory accounting for raw materials, WIP and finished goods, including standard costing, landed costs and COGS analysis.
• Oversee AP, AR and cash management, ensuring strong controls around payments, vendor relationships and collections.
• Own and optimize the accounting system (NetSuite, QuickBooks or similar) and develop scalable processes and internal controls.
• Partner with operations, supply chain, sales and FP&A to translate accounting data into actionable insights.
• Lead, mentor and develop accounting staff or outsourced partners, and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in CPG, consumer goods or other inventory‑intensive businesses.
• Background as an Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager ready to step into a Controller role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and inventory accounting, with proven ownership of month‑end close and financial statement preparation.
• ERP experience required; NetSuite is strongly preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
• CPA certification preferred but not mandatory.
