Field Geologist / Engineer

About the role

The Field Geologist/Engineer will ensure safe, efficient and accurate operation of geotechnical and geophysical site‑investigation equipment. You will work hands‑on with heavy machinery and a suite of instruments, supporting project execution from equipment deployment to data acquisition and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Operate CPTu, VST, sampling systems and various geophysical instruments in a safe and productive manner.
• Assist operators and engineers, including mobilising and demobilising equipment in hard‑to‑access sites.
• Perform routine maintenance on all field equipment to maintain optimal performance.
• Conduct in‑situ testing, collect soil and geophysical data, and compile daily logs, notes and photographs.
• Submit collected data and reports to engineers, supervisors or clients for further processing.
• Adapt to evolving project needs, taking on roles such as Assistant Field Operator or Project Coordinator.

• Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication abilities.
• Effective problem‑solving skills and a proactive attitude.
• Willingness to develop a deep understanding of site‑investigation practices, soil mechanics and geophysical field methods.
