Fiber Construction Technician - Aerial

About the role

Do you like to be a problem‑solver and enjoy working outdoors? Our fiber construction technician role builds and maintains fiber‑optic infrastructure. This aerial crew position requires comfort with heights and the willingness to learn pole‑climbing techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Use hand and power tools for site preparation, excavation, pole setting, trenching, backfilling, clean‑up, and landscaping.
• Operate and maintain company vehicles and aerial devices, following safety procedures and equipment manuals.
• Climb telecommunications poles up to 50 feet using gaff climbers to install and repair equipment.
• Hang fiber cables, install poles and equipment, and troubleshoot construction issues on site.
• Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to codes, standards, and company policies.

Required profile

• Ability to meet heavy‑physical‑labor demands, lifting up to 100 lb occasionally and 20 lb frequently.
• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license; willingness to obtain a Class A CDL within 6‑12 months.
• Professional appearance, customer‑service orientation, and reliable punctuality.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Willingness to work after hours, on‑call, and in urgent situations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to read construction prints and engineering documentation.
• Operating vehicle‑mounted aerial devices.
• Climbing telecommunications poles using gaff climbers.
• Knowledge of NESC clearances and aerial‑construction regulations.
