About the role

The O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University seeks an Executive Director to lead its strategic vision and day‑to‑day operations. Reporting to the Faculty Director, the incumbent will shape policy‑focused research, education, and advocacy initiatives on health law at the national and global levels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Institute’s strategic plan, aligning goals with its mission.
• Supervise a team of seven Center Directors and oversee administration, finance, communications, and core operational functions.
• Lead fundraising, development, and donor engagement activities to secure sustainable resources.
• Plan and manage events, conferences, and programs that advance health‑law scholarship.
• Advance sponsored research, oversee publications, and coordinate student‑focused programs.
• Engage in independent scholarly work, including research, writing, lecturing, and occasional teaching.
• Drive institution‑building, curricular administration, recruitment, and budgeting efforts.

Required profile

• Possession of a terminal degree (J.D., Ph.D., M.D., MBA, or equivalent).
• Minimum seven years of senior or executive leadership experience.
• Proven track record in fundraising and development.
• Expertise in program building, sponsored research, and academic administration.
• Innovative thinker with independent judgment, high integrity, and fairness.
• Strong communication, organizational, financial, and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, team‑oriented environment.
