Enterprise Architect – Financial & Healthcare Systems

About the role

Fathom Management is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to lead the design and modernization of complex financial and healthcare systems for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The role focuses on Azure cloud infrastructure, IBM Sterling B2B integration, EDI/X12 transaction processing, and migration of legacy mainframe workloads to Red Hat OpenShift.

Key responsibilities

• Design and document Azure cloud and VM architectures, including sizing, capacity planning, and cost analysis.
• Develop integration solutions using IBM Sterling B2B Integrator for EDI/X12 270/271, 276/277, and 820 transactions.
• Create migration and modernization roadmaps to move legacy mainframe and on‑premise applications to OpenShift container platforms.
• Architect enterprise service‑bus and API strategies across IBM, Oracle, and Red Hat JBoss Service Bus technologies.
• Produce enterprise architecture models, logical/physical diagrams, and business‑case documentation for executive stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance across cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
• 10+ years of enterprise or solution architecture experience, preferably in healthcare payer or federal financial systems.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure infrastructure, IBM Sterling B2B Integrator, EDI/X12, iFAMS, and Red Hat OpenShift.
• Proven ability to perform cost analysis and present architecture recommendations to senior leadership.
