About the role
The Electrician provides building‑trade services to maintain and repair electrical systems, fixtures, and related components across Georgetown University’s campuses. This role supports daily maintenance, responds to service calls, and performs preventative and special work to ensure a safe, functional environment for the university community.
Key responsibilities
- Perform journey‑level electrical maintenance and repairs in accordance with industry and trade practices.
- Respond to calls for service, conduct scheduled preventative maintenance, and handle unscheduled or special tasks as assigned.
- Use standard electrician tools, equipment, materials, and supplies while adhering to all safety rules, codes, regulations, and precautions.
- Provide direct customer service to building users, ensuring a comfortable, safe, and clean environment.
- Operate university commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 lb + when required, maintaining required DOT medical certification.
Required profile
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent electrician training.
- Current journeyman electrical license for the District of Columbia.
- Valid driver’s license from DC, VA, or MD.
- Subject to random and for‑cause drug and alcohol testing.
- Possession of a DOT medical card/certificate for operating commercial vehicles.
Required skills

- Operation of commercial vehicles (10,000 lb + GVW).
