About the role
The Director of Operations is a senior leader reporting to the Executive Director, responsible for translating strategy into effective operations across three program areas and facilities. This hands‑on role ensures the organization has the people, resources, and infrastructure needed to serve communities on the margins.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with the Executive Director to develop and implement organizational strategy, translating it into clear goals, metrics, and execution across programs.
- Lead and oversee the Directors of Workforce Development, Housing & Homemaking, and Supportive Sheltering, ensuring performance, accountability, and alignment with strategy.
- Monitor program funding, deliverables, and compliance, driving continuous improvement and coordination across operations.
- Build a collaborative culture, coach directors, and support hiring, development, and retention in partnership with HR.
- Partner with the Director of Finance to develop budgets, ensure financial sustainability, and identify efficiency and revenue diversification opportunities.
- Oversee facilities and site operations, ensuring safety, security, and effective day‑to‑day management of the building and on‑site village.
- Represent Cultivate Initiatives with external partners, strengthen community relationships, and provide executive leadership when the Executive Director is unavailable.
- Maintain regular communication with the Board, report on operational metrics, and participate in board and staff committees.
Required profile
- Significant leadership experience overseeing programs, operations, or multiple functional areas.
- Ability to think strategically and tactically with focus on long‑term sustainability and growth.
- Strong financial acumen and capability to analyze the financial impact of decisions.
- Proven skill in establishing meaningful metrics, using data to assess performance, and translating strategy into results.
- Demonstrated ability to identify root causes, develop creative solutions, and lead through change.
- Excellent communication, judgment, emotional intelligence, and ability to build trust across an organization.

What we offer
- Salary range $82,000–$88,000 annually, based on experience.
