Director of Financial Planning & Analysis

About the role

Sentry is looking for a Director of FP&A to own and evolve the company’s financial planning and operating rhythms. Reporting to the VP of Finance & Strategy, you will lead forecasting, budgeting, headcount planning, and partner closely with Accounting during close.

Key responsibilities

• Own company‑wide forecasting, annual and long‑range planning, and maintain the consolidated financial model.
• Build a repeatable cadence for forecasts, budget‑to‑actual performance, variance analysis, and financial communications.
• Partner with Accounting for monthly and quarterly close, providing accrual inputs and variance explanations.
• Lead headcount planning with People and functional leaders, tracking hiring, compensation, and workforce investment.
• Prepare Board and executive reporting, translating performance drivers into decision‑ready materials.
• Serve as a trusted finance partner to leaders, helping evaluate trade‑offs and resource allocation.
• Oversee cost management for cloud, AI infrastructure, vendors, and other major spend categories.
• Improve FP&A systems, models, reporting, and data infrastructure to reduce manual work and speed decisions.

Required profile

• 8+ years of progressive FP&A experience, including end‑to‑end planning and forecasting.
• Proven ability to design or rebuild FP&A processes, not just operate existing ones.
• Experience partnering with accounting on close activities without owning transactional accounting.
• Self‑sufficient builder who can create structure from ambiguous processes.
• Strong analytical rigor with a pragmatic approach to delivering timely insights.
