Director, Internal Communications

About the role

Okta is seeking a Director of Internal Communications to shape and deliver the narrative that connects its global workforce to the company’s AI‑focused strategy. Based in San Francisco, the leader will partner with senior executives and the People team to ensure employees understand the company’s direction, why it matters, and how it impacts them.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an internal communications strategy aligned with major initiatives such as AI transformation, platform evolution, and operating model shifts.
• Translate Okta’s corporate strategy into clear, memorable messaging and maintain a consistent cadence across all internal channels.
• Own and oversee internal communication platforms including Slack, intranet, and email, ensuring precise audience targeting and reach.
• Lead the planning, narrative development, production, and delivery of Company All‑Hands meetings and executive forums.
• Design multi‑channel engagement programs that foster dialogue, connection, and understanding among employees.
• Partner with Corporate Communications and other functions during critical moments to align messaging enterprise‑wide.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in internal communications or corporate communications within a fast‑moving technology environment.
• Demonstrated ability to craft strategic narratives that simplify complex concepts for a broad audience.
• Strong partnership skills with senior leaders, HR/People teams, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Experience managing large‑scale internal events such as All‑Hands meetings.
• Ability to work with urgency, boldness, and ownership in a rapidly evolving organization.
