Development Center Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

As a Development Center Manufacturing Engineer at 3M, you will work alongside innovative engineers worldwide to bring new products and processes to market. The role offers exposure to a broad portfolio of technologies and the chance to influence safety, quality, and efficiency across the manufacturing site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and participate in new product introductions and cross‑functional development teams.
• Drive EHS alignment for products, raw materials, and equipment in partnership with the plant safety organization.
• Lead continuous‑improvement and product‑process‑understanding initiatives to enhance safety, cycle time, uptime, yield, cost and process capability.
• Manage capital equipment projects and assess future capital needs for the area.
• Build and leverage a network of laboratory, quality, finance, manufacturing and engineering resources to complete assignments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or science discipline from an accredited institution.
• At least three years of engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
• Ability to work independently and within cross‑functional, multi‑location teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 10 % domestically and relocate if needed.

Required skills

• Strong mechanical, chemical and/or electrical aptitude.
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
• Proficiency in Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis.
• Knowledge of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and control plans.
