About the role

Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Science and Technology seeks an innovative and dedicated leader to serve as Department Head for the Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology. The role combines academic leadership, curriculum oversight, research promotion, and industry partnership development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and act as the primary liaison among faculty, university administration, and students.
• Oversee curriculum development for Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, and Occupational Safety, Health & Environment programs.
• Assess student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
• Manage the department’s budget to support academic, research, and operational needs.
• Champion high‑impact research initiatives and assist faculty in securing external funding.
• Foster an inclusive environment that rewards excellence in teaching, research, and service.
• Align departmental initiatives with college and university strategic goals.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, OSH&E, or a closely related discipline by the hire date.
• Proven record of excellence in research, teaching, and academic leadership at the associate or full professor level.
• Experience in academic administration, budget management, and program accreditation (ABET/ATMAE) preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build strategic partnerships with industry and secure research funding.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to diversity and equal opportunity.
