About the role

The Dean leads the Dick & Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Texas A&M University–Kingsville. Responsible for overseeing teaching, research, extension and service missions, the Dean shapes strategic direction, budget, curriculum and faculty development to advance the college’s impact on South Texas agriculture and rural communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and implement a comprehensive college plan aligned with university goals.
• Manage the college’s budget, secure funding, and allocate resources across three academic departments and four research/outreach units.
• Oversee enrollment management, recruitment, retention and graduation initiatives, and build partnerships with community colleges and high schools.
• Ensure academic program quality, accreditation compliance, and continuous curriculum improvement.
• Lead faculty and staff recruitment, promotion, tenure processes, and foster a collaborative work environment.
• Represent the college to external stakeholders, cultivate alumni, industry, and philanthropic support, and serve as a spokesperson.

Required profile

• Terminal degree in an agricultural, natural resources, or closely related field.
• Proven academic leadership experience at the department head, director, associate dean or dean level.
• Record of distinguished research and teaching qualifying for full‑professor tenure.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, accreditation processes, and strategic initiatives.
