Data Entry Operator - Surge Support

About the role

This posting is for a surge‑capacity roster that will support the U.S. Department of Labor’s No Surprises Act complaint processing. Operators will be called upon when the Government activates additional staff to handle increased complaint volume. The position is full‑time and based onsite in downtown Washington, DC.

Key responsibilities

• Review daily incoming complaints, identify allegations, and route them correctly.
• Screen complaints against jurisdiction categories and flag those requiring Agency notification within two business days.
• Enter and maintain complaint records accurately in the Technical Assistance Inquiry System (TAIS).
• Contact complainants for missing information and follow up until requirements are met.
• Communicate with health plans via telephone and pre‑approved email templates, logging all interactions.
• Keep complainants informed on case status, escalate stalled cases, and correct data errors in existing records.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in data entry, case processing, claims, customer service, or administrative support; health‑plan or federal case‑processing experience is a strong plus.
• Ability to type accurately at volume and work comfortably in a case‑management or records system.
• Clear written and telephone communication skills for interacting with medical billing offices and health‑plan representatives.
• Reliable on‑site availability in downtown Washington, DC.
• U.S. person status and ability to obtain and maintain a favorable federal suitability determination (Minimum Background Investigation / Trusted Workforce 2.0 moderate).
