Cross-Journal Scientific Editor – Life & Medical Portfolio

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic scientist to join Cell Press’s Research Integrity and Author Experience team as a cross‑journal scientific editor. The role involves working across the Life and Medical Science portfolio, engaging with editors and authors, and supporting the publication of cutting‑edge research.

Key responsibilities

• Assess submitted research papers and oversee the peer‑review and editorial process.
• Guide authors through publishing decisions, including journal transfers.
• Build effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and external partners.
• Establish relationships with researchers and represent Cell Press at scientific meetings and research institutions.
• Improve editorial processes for editors and reviewers.
• Contribute to broader Cell Press initiatives shaping the future of science communication.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in a relevant life or medical science discipline.
• Passion for critically evaluating a wide range of scientific issues and willingness to learn new areas.
• Talent for distilling complex concepts and communicating them clearly.
• Ability to work flexibly, creatively, and experiment with new author‑service approaches.
• Strong teamwork, problem‑solving mindset, and ability to collaborate across time zones.
• Excellent time‑management and organizational skills to balance multiple priorities.
