Controls Technical Specialist I

About the role

As a Controls Technical Specialist I you will troubleshoot, maintain and improve PLC and PC‑based automation systems supporting our automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) and packaging equipment. The role begins with a two‑month training period followed by a night‑shift schedule on a 2‑2‑3 rotation.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair automation systems including Allen Bradley and Beckhoff PLCs, Ignition and Aveva SCADA/HMI software.
• Provide hardware support for packaging lines, ASRS, Fanuc robots, servo drives (Kinetix, SEW‑Eurodrive) and Safety Instrumented Systems.
• Install and troubleshoot instrumentation for level, weight, temperature, pressure and flow measurements.
• Execute plant and capital projects from concept to completion and maintain as‑built electrical and control documentation.
• Coordinate control system software upgrades and perform network and data administration for PC‑based control equipment.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with at least 3 years of PLC and HMI troubleshooting experience, OR an Associate’s degree in a technical field with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control programs.

Required skills

• PLC programming and hardware (Allen Bradley, Beckhoff).
• HMI/SCADA platforms (Ignition, Aveva).
• Fanuc robot troubleshooting.
• Servo motion control (Kinetix, SEW‑Eurodrive).
• Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
• Instrumentation for level, weight, temperature, pressure, flow.
• Network administration for PC‑based control systems.
• Electrical schematic and wiring diagram interpretation.
