Controls Service Technician II

About the role

The Controls Service Technician II is responsible for start‑up, checkout, and troubleshooting of building automation and HVAC control systems at customer sites in Wichita and surrounding areas. The role involves both new construction installations and retrofit projects, ensuring systems operate efficiently and meet client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform controls system inspections, service, and troubleshooting on HVAC DDC BACnet/IP installations.
• Load and update product licenses, firmware, panel programs, graphics, IP addresses, and hardware jumpers; label all components accurately.
• Commission new systems and migrate legacy P2 controls to BACnet, documenting progress in checkout sheets.
• Test hardware and software integrations, including I/O testing, alarm messaging, and system communications.
• Configure, calibrate, and troubleshoot controls equipment; conduct wiring checkout and assist with automation startups.
• Respond to emergency service calls, both on‑site and remotely, and resolve customer issues promptly.
• Collaborate with team members to develop technical solutions and share updates on product documentation.
• Maintain technical knowledge through continuing education and keep field technicians informed of changes.

Required profile

• Experience with building automation and HVAC control systems, preferably in a field service environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance while following safety and quality standards.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and effective communication with project managers and clients.
