Communication Support Intern – Spring/Summer 2026

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Communication Support Intern for the Spring/Summer 2026 period. Based in the New York Office, the intern will assist the Director and staff in delivering communication, media, and administrative support for UN‑Habitat’s global initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Support in‑person and virtual events, including webinars and online meetings.
• Update and manage UN‑Habitat’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
• Conduct analytical research and contribute to media/advocacy campaigns.
• Provide media support for events, including photo and video capture.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as spreadsheet formatting, proofreading, archive searches, and basic reporting.
• Distribute relevant articles to UN staff and assist in creating graphic‑design materials.
• Support advocacy and outreach activities to internal and external audiences.
• Research, draft, and edit content for public information materials and website updates.
• Help organize events, manage website content, and handle mailing of public information materials.

Required profile

• Must be enrolled in a graduate school programme at the time of application.

Required skills

• Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
• Basic graphic‑design abilities.
