Commercial Lender

About the role

We are seeking a Commercial Lender to join our team in the greater Chicagoland area. The role involves originating, underwriting, and closing commercial loans while managing a loan portfolio in line with bank policies and regulatory guidelines. You will also develop and service customer relationships, cross‑sell bank products, and represent the bank in the community.

Key responsibilities

• Call on existing customers to retain and expand relationships and develop new prospects.
• Interview prospective borrowers, gather and analyze financial statements, and assess collateral.
• Structure, price, and underwrite loans according to bank guidelines.
• Respond promptly to underwriting queries to minimize turnaround time.
• Review loan presentations for compliance and accuracy before submission.
• Approve loans within lending limits and recommend loans for approval.
• Maintain loan renewals, collect past‑due payments, and ensure timely insurance updates.
• Enter sales calls and referrals in Salesforce and stay current with compliance testing.
• Participate in community and service organizations to enhance the bank’s image.

Required profile

• Proven experience originating, underwriting, and closing commercial loans.
• Strong relationship‑building and customer service skills.
• Ability to analyze financial statements and assess borrowing capacity.
• Knowledge of bank policies, regulatory lending guidelines, and credit risk management.
• Effective communication and collaboration with internal teams such as Credit, Loan Administration, and Business Banking.
