Category Development Leader – Consumer Business Group

About the role

The Category Development Leader for the Consumer Business Group (CBG) in the US and Canada will drive channel and marketplace growth for 3M’s consumer portfolio. You will work with cross‑functional teams to expand product assortments, improve conversion and profitability, and ensure retail readiness across new and existing outlets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead channel expansion for CBG portfolios, focusing on 3P, marketplace and key verticals.
• Define and execute marketplace portfolio strategies, including selection, pack/price architecture, bundles, exclusives and limited‑time offers.
• Build business cases for portfolio changes and assess financial impact.
• Partner with Brand and Product teams to align positioning, claims and launch readiness for each channel.
• Monitor market trends and innovations, integrating insights into channel plans.
• Provide portfolio insights and gap analysis to brand and APL teams.
• Influence promotional strategies to meet margin targets and marketplace dynamics.
• Analyze marketplace performance metrics (traffic, conversion, search, share, profitability) and translate findings into actionable plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Minimum seven years of marketing and/or sales experience.
• At least three years of eCommerce, digital commerce or marketplace management experience with 3P exposure.
• Two years of Consumer Packaged Goods retail experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop business cases and drive cross‑functional initiatives.
