Cafeteria Worker – School Food Service

About the role

The school cafeteria worker ensures that students receive attractive, nutritious meals in a clean, efficient and friendly environment. Working under the guidance of the Cafeteria Manager, the role involves food preparation, service, sanitation and maintaining a pleasant atmosphere for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals according to menu plans while adhering to safety and nutrition standards.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work areas, and dining spaces on a regular schedule.
• Maintain trash and garbage collection areas in a neat and sanitary condition.
• Attend required training sessions, staff meetings and follow all district safety and sanitation policies.
• Report attendance promptly and notify the manager of any absences by 6:00 a.m.
• Handle district‑owned assets responsibly and comply with all relevant policies.
• Maintain professional conduct, confidentiality and positive relationships with colleagues, students and the community.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous experience in food service or a similar setting.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, especially regarding safety and sanitation.
• Reliable, punctual attendance and the capacity to work the scheduled hours.
• Good interpersonal skills and respect for diverse school community.
