About the role

HEKA is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth across government/defense and commercial aerospace markets. You will act as the bridge between our engineering talent and clients, shaping strategic direction and influencing company trajectory.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities in both government/defense and commercial aerospace sectors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, contracting officers, primes, and commercial clients.
  • Lead proposal development, including capture strategy, teaming arrangements, and coordination of proposal writing.
  • Monitor government procurement pipelines (e.g., SAM.gov, GovWin) and commercial market trends to spot upcoming opportunities.
  • Represent HEKA at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
  • Collaborate with engineering and leadership teams to align business development efforts with technical capabilities.
  • Maintain and grow the sales pipeline using CRM tools, providing regular reporting to leadership.
  • Support contract negotiations and assist in onboarding new clients.

Required profile

  • 3–6 years of business development, capture management, or sales experience in aerospace, defense, or a related engineering industry.
  • Familiarity with government contracting processes (FAR/DFARS, proposal requirements, clearance levels) and commercial client development.
  • Proven track record of winning new business or expanding existing accounts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience supporting proposal efforts.
  • Self‑starter mentality comfortable operating autonomously in a small‑company environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
  • U.S. citizenship.
