Assistant Professor of Finance/Financial Planning

About the role

The Department of Finance at Texas A&M University‑Corpus Christi seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Finance/Financial Planning to begin in Fall 2027. The role focuses on undergraduate and graduate instruction that prepares students for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) examination and supports the broader finance curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in financial planning topics such as retirement, estate, tax, insurance, investment planning, and capstone experiences.
• Deliver additional finance courses as needed, including corporate finance, investments, and personal finance.
• Utilize multiple instructional modalities (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, hyflex) to meet departmental needs.
• Maintain an active research agenda and contribute to scholarly activities.
• Advise and mentor students, participate in curriculum development, and provide service to the department, college, and community.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree in Financial Planning or Finance from an AACSB‑accredited institution (ABD candidates considered if degree is conferred at appointment).
• Earned CFP designation or completion of all educational requirements to sit for the CFP exam, with the exam to be passed within two years of hire.
• Demonstrated ability to teach in various modalities and to develop curriculum aligned with CFP Board standards.

Required skills

• Knowledge of financial planning concepts and CFP Board educational requirements.
• Experience teaching finance‑related courses at the undergraduate or graduate level.
