Assistant Professor – Health Communication (Tenure‑Track)

About the role

The Department of Communication at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor specializing in Health Communication, beginning August 2027. The position combines teaching, research, and service within a nine‑month faculty appointment.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in health communication, developing curricula and assessing student learning.
• Maintain an active research program focused on health communication, employing qualitative, quantitative, or mixed‑methods approaches, and seeking external funding.
• Contribute to departmental, college, and university service, including committee work, mentorship of students, and collaboration with the Center for Communication Research.

Required profile

• Terminal degree in Communication (or related field) earned by the start date.
• Demonstrated record of scholarly activity in health communication, including peer‑reviewed publications and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
• Experience with community‑engaged or applied scholarship and ability to work in interdisciplinary research teams.
