Assistant Director of Academic & Faculty Affairs – MSFS Program

About the role

The Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service seeks an Assistant Director of Academic and Faculty Affairs. This full‑time position supports over 250 U.S. and international students and more than 100 faculty members, ensuring smooth academic operations and faculty engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic advising and career‑related services in partnership with the SFS Career Center.
• Manage course scheduling, track student progress toward degree completion, and oversee internship coordination.
• Serve on the MSFS curriculum committee and assist the Director with program administration.
• Facilitate hiring, onboarding, and training of adjunct faculty, new faculty, and Practitioners in Residence.
• Collect and review syllabi, monitor course evaluations, and maintain faculty records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with at least three years of progressive experience in student or academic affairs.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in academic advising or career coaching is a plus.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing, and proofreading abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
