Researcher – Digital Government & Public Benefits

About the role

The Beeck Center for Social Impact & Innovation at Georgetown University is seeking a Researcher to strengthen its applied research program on digital government delivery. You will work with cross‑sector partners to generate evidence‑based insights that improve the design and delivery of public benefit programs.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct applied research on core public benefits programs such as SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, TANF, child care and unemployment insurance.
• Analyze how technology, data, AI and human‑centered design can enhance service delivery and policy outcomes.
• Produce a variety of research outputs, including reports, datasets, landscape analyses, multimedia pieces and prototypes.
• Collaborate with government practitioners, scholars and community stakeholders to ensure ethical and equitable research practices.
• Disseminate findings to target audiences through publications, presentations and digital media.

Required profile

• Familiarity with policies governing major public benefits programs.
• Understanding of challenges and opportunities for technology in public service delivery.
• Strong curiosity, analytical rigor and commitment to social impact.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.

Required skills

• Experience with human‑centered design or product development methodologies.
• Knowledge of data analysis, AI concepts, and digital service design.
• Proficiency in preparing research publications and multimedia formats.
