Academy Engineer Trainer (Engineering)

About the role

We are seeking an Academy Engineer Trainer to join Thales’ IAS UK Academy in Belfast on a two‑year secondment. You will design, develop and deliver engineering training programmes that accelerate the competency of our engineers across all disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Identify skill gaps and create targeted training content aligned with the Academy learning model (70‑20‑10).
• Develop, maintain and manage Learning Management System (LMS) courses and materials.
• Deliver classroom and hands‑on training sessions for engineers at all levels, from beginner to master.
• Mentor and coach engineers to improve their speed to competency.
• Collaborate with heads of engineering functions, technical publications, programme managers and external partners such as Ulster University.
• Ensure training complies with UK‑SPEC, Thales Chorus II standards and internal documentation processes.
• Contribute to IAS Strategic Capability Plans and support the development of SQEP.

Required profile

• Proven experience in designing and delivering technical training for engineering audiences.
• Ability to work independently without day‑to‑day supervision.
• Strong stakeholder management skills across internal engineering functions and external academic partners.
• Understanding of UK‑SPEC and professional engineering standards.
• Commitment to a two‑year secondment in Belfast.
