Youth Volleyball Coach - Fall 2026

About the role

ANTS Sports is looking for passionate, committed part-time Youth Volleyball Coaches for K-5th grade students in San Leandro, San Lorenzo and Hayward for the Fall 2026 season. Coaches lead or assist weekly after-school sports programs in the Boys & Girls Club of San Leandro school communities. No previous coaching experience is required, as all coaches receive training. The fall session runs from September 2026 through December 2026 and must be covered in full.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a fun and safe weekly practice for children aged 5-10.
• Teach the fundamentals of sports through a cohesive, game-filled lesson plan (training provided).
• Arrive on time each week for the entire season and attend an in-person orientation training.
• Interact positively with parents, teachers and school staff.
• Set up before and clean up after each program, and transport coaching equipment to and from class each week.

Required profile

• Reliable transportation to the coaching sites; a vehicle is very helpful because equipment must be brought to and from class.
• Responsible and professional: punctual, keeps accurate attendance, communicates positively with parents and school staff.
• Strong communication skills, using email and phone with ANTS, parents and site staff.
• Enthusiastic, patient and a positive role model for young children.
• Experience as a player or coach (at least two years) is highly valued but optional.
• Must pass a federal and state background check and/or FBI fingerprinting and test negative for tuberculosis within the last four years.

What we offer

• Pay of $25-35 per hour.
• Flexible schedule: 5-15 hours per week, with classes of 2 hours on the same day each week, usually between 2 and 6 p.m., for a 10 to 14-week season.
• Ongoing support and training, and the chance to return for the whole school year and summer/weekend programs.
• Experience in early childhood sports education.
