Wireless Engineer – Enterprise Network (Level 1)

About the role

The LSU/ITS/UNI Network Engineering team seeks a Wireless Engineer to support a large enterprise‑class wireless infrastructure. You will help design, deploy, administer, and monitor thousands of access points and related network equipment across campus.

Key responsibilities

• Validate RF performance, quality, and reliability; monitor statistical data to improve system performance.
• Install, upgrade, and configure wireless controllers, access points, switches, routers, firewalls, and related software.
• Perform site surveys, gather information, and prepare replacement projects for wireless infrastructure.
• Consult with users and departments to evaluate needs and design solutions that meet business requirements.
• Develop lab environments to simulate and validate complex network designs.
• Evaluate vendor hardware and software, recommend purchases, and lead lifecycle upgrades.

Required profile

• Experience troubleshooting medium to complex wireless issues in an enterprise environment.
• Ability to mentor junior analysts, student workers, and other staff.
• Strong analytical skills for performance monitoring and data‑driven improvements.
