Weekend Shift SMTA Process Engineer

About the role

Leidos' Defense Systems Electronics Manufacturing Facility in Huntsville, Alabama, is seeking a 2nd Shift Process Engineer to join its engineering team. The role develops, documents and executes manufacturing processes for electronic products, supporting the production of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) and preparing them for delivery to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, document and execute manufacturing processes and procedures for electronic products.
• Support production of PCBA through SMT, Through Hole Selective Solder, Press Fit, Conformal Coating and other PCBA processes.
• Create machine programs and oversee the execution of manufacturing activities.
• Work with operations, engineering, quality and production control teams to validate customer quality requirements and meet delivery schedules.
• Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing engineers and technicians to define build strategies and identify potential assembly problems.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 0-2 years; a high school diploma/GED with 4 years of experience is also considered.
• Willingness to work the weekend shift (Friday to Sunday, 6am to 6pm) and availability to train on the 1st shift for a month or longer first.
• Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville area; US citizen eligible for a Final Secret clearance or able to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Preferred: 5+ years of manufacturing experience on electronic hardware built to government specifications.

Required skills

• Experience with SMT, Through Hole Selective Soldering and Conformal Coating is considered.
• Preferred: ASM pick and place, DEK screen printers, BTU ovens, PVA coating machines, Pillarhouse or JUKI selective solder.
• Preferred: Costpoint material planning, Agile/Windchill PLM, MES and quality roles.
• Basic computer skills for retrieving and updating manufacturing documentation.
