Web Developer (Remote)

About the role

The Web Developer will design, develop, test and maintain web applications, databases and user interfaces for MEI and its wholly‑owned subsidiaries. The role focuses on creating responsive, accessible sites that work across browsers and devices while supporting internal portals and external websites.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain MEI’s intranet portal and subsidiary websites using modern content creation tools.
• Build and manage databases that support web applications, ensuring data integrity and performance.
• Validate code for standards compliance, cross‑browser compatibility, and device responsiveness.
• Collaborate with management and team members to prioritize tasks, resolve conflicts and improve content.
• Provide Help Desk support via phone or email, troubleshooting user issues.
• Create and follow procedures for ongoing website revisions and updates.
• Conduct code reviews and participate in release processes according to SOPs.
• Assist with server maintenance, hardware/software recommendations and security measures such as firewalls and encryption.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; associate degree in Computer Science, web design or related field preferred.
• Minimum two years of hands‑on experience developing web applications.
• Ability to work independently, generate ideas and see projects through to implementation.

Required skills

• Object‑oriented PHP (5/7), JavaScript (ES5 & ES6) with AJAX.
• HTML, CSS, Regular Expressions, Responsive Design, REST, SOAP, JSON, XML.
• Experience with MSSQL, MySQL and relational database design.
• Familiarity with Laravel Framework, Eloquent ORM, Angular Framework, Typescript and RxJS Library.
• Proficiency with GitHub, Linux, VS Code and MVC architecture.
• Knowledge of MS 365, SharePoint, MS Azure and WordPress is a plus.
