Water Treatment Plant Operator

About the role

This full‑time position is responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the City of Bowling Green’s Water Treatment Plant, ensuring delivery of high‑quality drinking water.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and oversee plant operations, including clearwell and water tower levels.
• Collect and test water samples, perform laboratory analyses, and record chemical feed amounts, meter readings and plant flow.
• Inspect plant equipment, make adjustments, and conduct preventive maintenance and facility upkeep.
• Handle hazardous and toxic chemicals, and perform electrical and mechanical maintenance.
• Maintain operational records, train new employees and conduct plant tours.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and Chemical Analysis Certification.
• Three to five years of relevant experience; ability to obtain Ohio Class I Water Treatment Operator certification within three years.
