Wastewater Operator

About the role

The Wastewater Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a 718,000‑gallon‑per‑day water pollution control system. This role involves overseeing laboratory analysis, collection and treatment processes, and ensuring the facility runs smoothly around the clock.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the wastewater analysis laboratory and maintain accurate testing records.
• Operate and maintain the wastewater collection system.
• Operate and maintain the full treatment system, including pretreatment (physical, chemical), biological treatment (SBRs), and spray irrigation.
• Perform minor to major maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Handle hazardous chemicals safely and maintain proper documentation.
• Perform grounds keeping, painting, and general housekeeping within the facility.
• Lift heavy objects (50‑75 lb) and climb/descend stairs or ladders as required.
• Work flexible hours, including weekends and odd shifts, to ensure continuous operation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of wastewater or recycling experience preferred (not required).
• Strong mechanical and electrical abilities.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work weekends and odd hours.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; dependable.
