Warehouse Operations Supervisor - 2nd Shift

About the role

Meijer is hiring a Warehouse Operations Supervisor for the 2nd shift in Newport. The supervisor plans the daily shipping and receiving activities of the unit to meet department and organizational metrics, determines job assignments and coordinates receiving, selection, put-away, safety, inventory control and sanitation so productivity goals are met efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Interview, train, develop and maintain staffing levels to meet daily operational goals.
• Identify high-potential team members and help build a succession bench for leadership.
• Foster positive relationships with team members and union representatives, where applicable, to improve satisfaction and retention.
• Cultivate a positive, innovative work environment and ensure adherence to Meijer policies and procedures.
• Establish and maintain DC scorecard metrics for productivity and efficiency, using data analysis to find ways to improve performance.
• Train, coach and lead work teams to achieve performance, quality, cost and service goals, and ensure safe operation of material handling equipment.
• Manage team member concerns, investigate issues and recommend discipline to the First Assistant and Human Resources when needed.
• Monitor performance metrics for direct reports and deliver coaching, retraining and disciplinary action as necessary.
• Continuously evaluate warehouse processes and recommend improvements to leadership.
• Handle administrative duties related to production, shipping and quality performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management preferred.
• 3+ years of leadership and/or warehouse management experience.
• Analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Conflict resolution and performance management abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
