VP Finance

About the role

This senior finance leadership position supports a fast‑scaling, clinical‑stage biotech organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, the VP Finance will own day‑to‑day finance operations while shaping systems, controls, and processes that enable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end accounting operations, including month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close with full GAAP compliance.
• Oversee general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations and financial consolidations.
• Lead technical accounting areas such as R&D accruals, clinical trial expenses, stock‑based compensation, leases, revenue recognition and financing transactions.
• Serve as primary liaison for external auditors and lead the annual audit process.
• Direct treasury functions including cash positioning, forecasting, banking relationships and liquidity visibility.
• Build and maintain internal controls, reporting frameworks and policies aligned with GAAP and SOX readiness.
• Coordinate tax compliance and work with external advisors on federal, state and local filings.
• Define finance systems strategy, modernize ERP and finance tools, and integrate automation/AI where appropriate.
• Lead, develop and mentor a high‑performing finance team.
• Partner with the CFO and executive leadership to provide accurate financial insights for decision‑making and board reporting.

Required profile

• 12+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience with deep controllership responsibilities.
• At least 3 years in senior finance leadership roles within biotech, pharma or similarly regulated industries.
• Strong technical accounting expertise and extensive US GAAP knowledge.
• Proven experience managing audits, internal controls and SOX‑ready processes.
• Demonstrated ability to own full month‑end close cycles and lead external audit engagements.
