Voluntary Research Scholar – Dermatology

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Dermatology seeks a full‑time Voluntary Research Scholar to support resident and fellow research initiatives. This position offers the chance to become an investigator on grants and to contribute to cutting‑edge dermatology research.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare research proposals with rationale, background data, and methods.
• Design and write analysis programs, generate reports, and collect pilot data for grant applications.
• Maintain data files, conduct data analysis, and draft manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals.
• Plan, execute, and interpret original research projects autonomously while collaborating with faculty, staff, postdocs, and students.
• Perform molecular and cell biology techniques, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, RT‑PCR, Western blot, immunostaining, and cell culture.
• Present research findings at local, national, and professional conferences.

Required profile

• MD in a relevant field.
• Current resident or fellow in a University of Miami program.
• Strong ability to collect, organize, and analyze data.
• Problem‑solving skills and sound judgment for critical decisions.
• Relevant education, certifications, or work experience considered.
