Vitamin and Body Care Manager

About the role

Fresh Thyme Market, part of Meijer, is looking for a Vitamin and Body Care Manager in Westerville. The manager oversees all aspects of the Vitamin and Body Care Department, including staff, sales, margin and labor, while assisting customers and maintaining a friendly, energetic demeanor. All positions require daily job responsibilities in addition to sales and customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare weekly sales and labor projections and keep department operations within the labor percentage allowed.
• Monitor and control costs, including ordering, inventory control, shrink and ad displays.
• Manage staff: hiring, training, scheduling, coaching and performance reviews, and ensure staff know policies and procedures.
• Oversee shift operations and approve department work schedules.
• Keep flyers in stock and order product for upcoming ads; stock, face, fill and organize products and check tag and pricing accuracy.
• Keep aisles, storage and work areas clean and safe, and sweep up hazardous debris.
• Assist customers with purchases, information and product selection, including selling and cross-selling.
• Receive, inspect and log products for shipment accuracy, temperature and quality.
• Rotate natural living products, track expiration dates and discard expired or spoiled items.
• Balance the general ledger and financial statements, prepare for inventory and manage inventory control.
• Coordinate events such as lectures and health fairs with Marketing and keep product knowledge current.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience; preferred 3-5 years in grocery retail vitamin and body care, and previous natural foods experience is a plus.
• Ability to work varied hours and days as business dictates.

Required skills

• MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Advanced knowledge of math, weights and measures, and ability to read financial statements.
• Knowledge of Health Department guidelines for grocery retail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail and multitasking.
