Vice President, Private Banking Lender

About the role

The Vice President – Private Banking Lender will join Emigrant Savings Bank’s New York Private Bank & Trust team, reporting to the First Vice President. This senior position is responsible for originating, underwriting, and managing private client loan portfolios while ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Interact with private client groups, their clients and prospects to assess new loan requests.
• Underwrite new loan requests and renewals, performing in‑depth borrower due diligence and financial analysis.
• Prepare detailed credit memorandums and present transactions to oversight and approval committees.
• Propose transaction structures that comply with credit and bank policy.
• Prepare quarterly and annual reviews of all portfolio borrowers and obtain mandatory compliance information.
• Manage department reporting, ensure loan agreements are complete and accurate, and coordinate loan closings with outside attorneys.
• Assist senior credit professionals in portfolio management, policy compliance and special projects.

Required profile

• Minimum of 7 years of private client lending experience.
• Strong knowledge of private banking, commercial, real estate and specialty lending.
• Demonstrated ability to perform complex financial statement and cash‑flow analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance; coursework in financial analysis, credit analysis, accounting preferred.
