Vice President Lead Java Software Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Vice President Lead Java Software Engineer to join JPMorgan Chase’s Asset & Wealth Management Alternatives team. In this hands‑on role you will modernize and build Java/Spring Boot platforms that support alternative investments, driving migration to AWS and implementing cloud‑native services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to business, development teams, contractors and vendors.
• Design, develop, test and maintain secure, high‑quality production code in Java/Spring Boot.
• Lead the re‑platforming of on‑premises applications to AWS, delivering cloud‑native services.
• Define and implement distributed integration patterns such as messaging and event streaming.
• Champion AI‑assisted development tools, establishing validation standards for security, performance and correctness.
• Drive adoption of automation and AI practices across the software development lifecycle.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert and advocate firm‑wide engineering frameworks and tools.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience delivering system design, application development, testing and operational stability.
• Proven experience modernizing legacy applications and migrating workloads to AWS.
• Strong understanding of secure coding, peer review and automated testing practices.
