Vice President, Immunology Research

About the role

Genentech/Roche is looking for a Vice President of Immunology Research to lead its Immunology program within Research & Early Development (gRED Research). Immunology is one of the company's five core therapeutic areas. The VP will oversee an organization of about 70 researchers and report to the Senior Vice President, Research-Biology.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and execute the Immunology research strategy and cultivate an innovative, rigorous environment for discovery
• Drive collaboration with Drug Discovery and cross-disciplinary research at the interface of immunology and inflammation across neuroscience, oncology, CVRM, ophthalmology and infectious diseases
• Partner with Corporate Business Development on strategic external partnerships, with Translational Medicine on biomarkers and reverse translation, and with the Center of Excellence in Computational Sciences on AI and computational approaches
• Advance functional genomics with the Translational Genomics and Proteomics Center, and work with Early Clinical Development to turn biological insights into therapeutic strategies
• Represent Genentech/Roche externally at scientific conferences and manage budgets, resources and timelines
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards, and serve on research review, leadership and portfolio teams

Required profile

• PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent advanced degree
• Minimum 10 years of experience (preferably 15), including more than 5 years at director level or above
• Proven scientific track record shown through publications, presentations and/or patents
• Leadership record of building, mentoring and developing scientific leaders
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, and ability to act as a subject matter expert

What we offer

• Salary range of $424,150 - $523,950 for the South San Francisco location, depending on experience and qualifications
