Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter – E&S Property

About the role

Zurich is hiring an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter for its E&S Property team, based in Chicago (or Atlanta) with a hybrid work arrangement. The role involves partnering with national wholesalers to drive profitable growth while maintaining high‑level service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and underwrite new and renewal business of moderate technical complexity using Zurich’s underwriting framework.
• Serve as a market‑facing representative, meeting brokers and agents at least three days per week.
• Apply disciplined exposure evaluation, risk assessment, pricing, and data‑driven decision making at point of sale.
• Administer underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws, and rating manual rules.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant underwriting, market‑facing, or claims experience (3‑10 years depending on level).
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and applicable experience is also acceptable.
• Knowledge of line‑of‑business regulations, time restraints for quotes, and ability to work within delegated authority limits.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
