Ultrasound Technologist Level II Floater

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Level II Ultrasound Technologist to serve as a floater across multiple radiology sites. The incumbent will perform complex ultrasound examinations, ensure high‑quality diagnostic images, and support clinical and research initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage scheduling and patient flow for inter‑departmental ultrasound procedures.
• Supervise daily operations in the absence of the Chief Technologist or Radiology Manager.
• Perform diagnostic ultrasound studies under radiologist supervision and verify order appropriateness.
• Assist in training new physicians, radiologists, and PhDs on emerging ultrasound protocols.
• Participate in research projects and develop new imaging techniques.
• Monitor daily charging of procedures and supplies to ensure accuracy.
• Provide equipment demonstrations for site visits and deliver in‑service education classes.
• Verify patient identity, obtain consents, and adhere to radiation safety procedures.

• Ability to integrate patient history, lab results, and imaging findings to adapt examinations as needed.
• Strong attention to detail for order verification and documentation.
• Effective communication with physicians, patients, and multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficient operation of diagnostic ultrasound equipment.
• Experience with radiology imaging systems and radiation safety protocols.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems for order entry and patient verification.
• Knowledge of ultrasound imaging protocols and quality standards.
