About the role

The Department of Surgery at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Ultrasound Technologist 3 to perform diagnostic sonographic examinations and support ultrasound services on site in Miami. The technologist will operate advanced ultrasound equipment, ensure high‑quality imaging, and assist physicians during procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialty sonographic procedures across all difficulty levels.
• Operate 2‑D, 3‑D, color, power, and spectral Doppler ultrasound modalities.
• Evaluate preliminary images and flag suspected pathology for physicians.
• Verify patient orders, gather clinical information, and explain procedures to patients.
• Assist physicians with invasive and special procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness, calibrate equipment, conduct quality‑assurance tests, and report malfunctions.
• Train students, residents, fellows, and visiting personnel.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and ensure infection‑control standards.
• Complete required documentation and computer entry of reports and logs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (additional sonography certification preferred).
• Experience performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
• Ability to interpret preliminary findings and communicate with clinical staff.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety and infection‑control policies.

Required skills

• Operation of 2‑D ultrasound equipment.
• Operation of 3‑D ultrasound equipment.
• Use of color Doppler, power Doppler, and spectral Doppler modalities.
• Ultrasound equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Quality‑assurance testing for imaging equipment.
• Electronic medical record documentation.
